ROSIE EMERSON Born 1981, lives and works in London, England

Rosie Emerson’s work focuses almost exclusively on representing the beauty, power and voyeurism of the female image. The artist takes on classical or contemporary figures, from Artemis to the modern day super model, and transforms their images into surreal and dreamy allegories of her own fantasy. Exploring the interplay between painting, collage, printmaking and photography, Emerson begins by taking portraits in her studio, sometimes making props and costumes for her models to wear. She then reproduces these images as screen prints, often delicately embellishing them with bronze powders and gold leaf as well as unusual materials such as charcoal powder, ash and sawdust, resulting in unique, hand-finished works. Emerson’s work is widely collected and exhibited both in the UK and in international galleries, art fairs and museums. She has also been commissioned by brands and individuals such as Sony, Triumph Underwear, Redbull, Toms, and Annoushka jewelry.
