MARLIES PLANK Born 1981, lives and works in Vienna, Austria

Born in Vienna Austria, Marlies Plank has been working as a freelance photographer and graphic designer since 2007. Her diverse and conceptual work ranges from editorial shoots for Le Monde magazine to creating collages for Maison Valentino. Plank uses a combination of photography, collage and patterns in order to form a dreamlike, almost surreal body of works that invites the viewer to pause and dwell in the moment. Her photographic series ‘Soap bubble studies’ is a mixture of landscape and surreal elements, acting as a metaphor for the impermanence and fragility of life. The series took Plank over 6 years to create and was photographed in different locations around the world; in the Moroccan desert, Austria, Italy and Spain. Plank exhibited worldwide and has been featured in many art magazines and blogs.
