INGRID BUGGE Born 1968, lives and works in Frederiksberg, Denmark

Movement of the human body and the graceful elegance of its forms are Ingrid Bugge’s artistic passions. By using her camera as a research tool, Bugge tests the boundaries of intimacy, expression and body language. Inspired by the Renaissance painters’ refined techniques and their ability to manipulate light and darkness as well as their passion for dense expression, her works are known for having a dramatic effect of contrast.

For two years Ingrid Bugge closely followed The Royal Danish Ballet, where she depicted the untold stories of the dancers in the photographic series ¨The Essence of Ballet”. “I got under the skin of the dancers,” she says. “Their challenges, their victories, the stories they so passionately tell with their bodies, and the secret adventures that happen behind the curtain.”

As a photographic artist Bugge´s work transcends the moment of photography and invites the viewers to share the dream reality that she creates.
