Multidisciplinary artist Alexander Wtges’s work is a unique integration between the analogue and the digital. Wtges’ artistic process begins with a drawing of elements which are later simplified until only their essential forms are left and redrawn in a digital format. Subsequently, Wtges conducts a reconstructive procedure of repeating, cutting, pasting and disarming the image in an intuitive way until a new and distinctive composition is created. His birds are a representation of spiritual concepts such as eternity, the ephemeral and life and death, ideas that take their inspiration from the mythological stories of different cultures.
Wtges studied graphic design at the University of Panama and began his career as a tattoo artist and producer of an alternative culture magazine. Later he turned to the field of advertising, working as an Art Director for Revolver Publicidad for eight years. He is currently a director in his studio, Hexagram, while simultaneously developing personal projects as a visual artist.
